                                   FAQ

How do I know what group my athlete is in?

NEW ATHLETES:  We will be hosting a placement tryout on Monday, April 21st at 6pm.  You must sign up on our website to secure your spot!  At Sandbarr, our coaches evaluate our athletes and group them with other athletes of similar capabilities. Our groups and their definitions can be located  under the "Programs" tab of this website. If you can't make our tryout, please reach out to us at Sandbarrbeach@gmail.com with your athlete's age and volleyball experience.

How does my child get moved up levels?

Our program is designed to place athletes in groups by level of play regardless of age.  When we consider placing an athlete in a certain group or moving a player to a higher level group, that player must also have enough skills to begin to contributing at that level.  This is to be fair to the player and to the group so that it remains the integrity of the level of play for that group.  Every single practice we are looking at potential players to move up!  In fact, last session we did just that and moved a couple of players mid-session!  If your athlete ever wants to know what they need to work on to move up, please have them come talk to one of the coaches!  We truly love having these conversations with our athletes!  We promise were super sweet about it and we love that they are advocating for themselves and wanting to better themselves in beach volleyball.  Now, if you have an athlete that would feel more comfortable with a parent by their side, that's totally fine, too.  Shoot us an email and we'll schedule a meeting before or after practice with the athlete and parent.

Here are the levels within Sandbarr in ascending order.

Sand Stars- Beginner players with little volleyball experience, but has the desire to want to learn the beach volleyball fundamentals.  Will teach the basic fundamentals in practice!

Coral Athlete has some playing experience- lots of technical development required

Pacifica Athlete has playing experience- some technical development required

Nautica Athlete has advanced level of play- strategy improvement required

Blue Sands- This group consists primarily of high school age players and is, over all, our most advanced group. Based on advanced skill level there will be some middle school players in this group.

We will consider the placement of an athlete based on their own ability (skills, desire to compete) and coachability (receptive to feedback and able to make improvement type changes).  We will not consider placing an athlete in a group based on friends being there, for social reasons or because a particular time a group practices works better for a parents schedule.  We wish we could accommodate these requests, but we need to stay true to how we run this club.

What happens when it's bad weather conditions?

In the event of bad weather, we try to give as much notice as possible, but we typically communicate 1 hour prior to the practice via our Facebook Page and by email.

How will we know if practice is cancelled?

We DO NOT like to cancel practice, however it happens, and in the event that a practice is cancelled, we will communicate via Facebook Page and Email,  the cancellation 1 hours prior practice. We will then reschedule that missed practice for a future date.

What if you miss a practice?

Thats ok! Send us an email and let us know!
